With the week being the Holy Week of the ministry of Jesus Christ I wanted to share more about the Jesus I have come to know while being out in the mission. So Easter special!๐ฃ
Firstly I wanted to start by sharing a little comparison that I've found while reading more about Jesus. The comparison comes from the Bible as well as the Book of Mormon.
Starting off in Matthew 21:9 it reads
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
Then in 3 Nephi 11:17
Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God! And they did fall down at the feet of Jesus, and did worship him.
Ok so I hope that you can see a similarity i m both of these scriptures. The welcoming of their savior with the words Hosanna. We know that we sing hosanna in quite a bit of songs but what does it really mean. Reading in the topical guide says that "Hosanna" means "Please Save Us." I dont know about you but that came as a little bit of a shock to me because the jews then go on the sacrifice Jesus only a few days later. That signifies to me that they truly didn't have the right faith in him.
To end I want to recognize the two different reactions between the Jews and the Nephites in their experiences of Jesus! Like I already said the Jews had their expectations of Jesus and he did not conform to thise expectations and they then fell subject to sacrificing their very own savior. I PRAY that this is not the case for most of us. Then the nephites, earlier in the chapter it talks of how the Nephites came to his feet to feel the prints of the nails in his habds and feet. This signifies to me that these people came t ok learn first and were willing enough to change their ideology around him. Both claimed Hosanna but for completely different reasons. The jews where wishing to be saved in a way that they thought they needed more. And Jesus did not complete their ideology therefore he was a fake, an outcast, and a heretic. Yet he did more for them then they can ever realize. Yet the Nephites realize what Jesus did because they went to his feet and beheld first-hand for themselves that he had individually suffered for each of them. They gained a personal witness of the holiness of his mission and therefore singing Hosanna asked him to save them. So this easter season or holy week I invite each of you to come to the savior to ckme to know him as your personal savior for more than what you expect. He is there for each of us and depending on how we react we will be the judges of our own futures. Stay true, "be still and know that I am God" (Psalms 46:10) He is ever with us, learn of him, and learn to recognize and know him! In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
