Hello to all my favorite people of the world!!! Yes of course you🫵. Your are receiving these anyway aren't you!?! Food for thought🤷
This week was such a boring week so I forgive in advance but the work is moving foreword, even if a little slower...
Started the wonderful week with exchanges from the zone leaders, and I had the wonderful experience to go with Elder Silva from Lehi Utah, shout out to them Lehi peeps (if there's anyone even there reading these😅) Learned a lot about getting people to listen to us but kinda hard to put them into words because we speak no americano here.
Then continued to have lots of lessons by phone call because everyone that we are currently teaching are women... so yeah thats been quite fun... you know I have a newfound love for you COVID missionaries because it is not fun...
Finally getting out of the carnival season but there are still 1 or 2 water balloons thrown at us every once in a while.
Ok guys buckle up we've got a wave of spiritualness coming right at ya😉
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT 👻💭:
Ok, ok so lately the topic that I have been most focused in this past week has been FAITH. (For those returned missionaries its the first step in what we teach😉) So to start off i want to break down what is faith. Figure out what it is, what it means and what it looks like. Secondly I wanna talk about the effects of faith and how we are in turn affected by our faith. Thirdly I will talk of how do we put our faith into "good" practice
So for this beginning part we will be looking a Moroni 7 from the scriptures so we learn that faith really is.
We learn from the child's song that "Faith is knowing the sun will rise... Faith is like a little seed: If planted, it will grow... Faith is trust in God above"
Faith seems to be quite a bit of things, and from a stark standpoint it seems almost confusing. But that last verse hits it right on the nail saying "faith is trust." We live in a world nowadays that likes to twist our idea of truth. "Truth is subjective", "truth is outside our capacity to understand, so why try" "truth can be changed based on what we understand." But each of these phrases is a flat out lie being told by Satan. By saying truth is uncomprehensible he can allow anyone to come up with a valid justification for just about everything. And its getting worse.
Moroni 7 verse 40 says
And again, my beloved brethren, I would speak unto you concerning hope. How is it that ye can attain unto faith, save ye shall have hope?
So it is quite impossible to have faith if there is no hope.
41 and 42 continues verifying this by saying that hope requires a looking forward in order to obtain this faith.
Now onto 43: In order to have hope you must be meek and humble, so by recognizing what God and Jesus have given you can you have a hope of things to come in the future, with this hope comes the faith that all will come to pass.
Then in 44 gives warning to those who do not seek these attributes. How can ye recieve, if you do not believe in the giver... like its told in Eter 12:12 that says God cannot perform any miracle among those who do not have faith.
God is not a God of mystery or disguise. In fact most of my mission i thought that in order to find an answer to some of my questions i had to look through some extravagant moment of belief where God would reveal these answers through a big spiritual experience. No God doesn't work like that. God communicates by means we understand, not some farfetched fantasy we don't truly believe in.
Faith or trust is not subjective, nor is it outside our ability to understand. Jesus clearly tells us in Heleman 5:12 (and i invite you all to read it all)
"because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."
We cannot build upon something if we cannot possibly arrive to it and become familiar with it. Jesus invites us to build upon his truth and anchor our faith in him, for it is the only sure foundation that will keep you above the waters of despair even after all the powerful winds of the devil.. Do not put your faith in anything other than Jesus. For if you do ye shall surely find yourself falling to those pitfalls of selfishness and self hate.
Sorry for the long, and partly cluttered spiritual thought, but this is what i wanted to share with all of you today so if you made it send me your favorite emoji!
Yea sorry that was just as exhausting to right as I'm sure it was to read... but thank you for reading if you actually read all the way through your a trooper and have a great rest of your week!!!
