Holy frijoles its crazy out here in Perú. We've already run into nut jobs and crazy catholic grandmas with 3 weeks in the field. I honestly don't know what it is. Maybe I'm just a magnet for weird people. But all in all we've had just a great time here teaching these people. I missed an email so I'll kinda share some highlights and lowlights of the past two weeks!
After arriving in Perú we made it to our apartment, which is so small. The building is nice, only cramped. Only one bathroom a bunk bed and a huge closet for some reason...
My area is called California, which is the bougiest part of all Trujillo for Elders. The next bougie spot is California also but for the sisters. What sucks about being in a nice area is the people are "way to busy to stop and listen" to us for 5 min. At least the food here is so amazing!!
Out here in Perú we have whats called a pension who does the cooking and we do the eating. Our pension cooks such amazing food! I've even had jerky here!! (which can't be found or shipped to Perú) her name is Milka and she is just the best.
The preaching is a little rough in our area like I said. But its also rough preaching because we opened this area back up to teaching. This means we had no help finding people and were street contacting for a week.
Another thing that is really important here is water. No one here can drink from the tap alone, we need filters. But me being a stupid greenie and wanting immunity from the bacteria here, put just a little water in my mouth. Only like a couple drops. The next day I was sick, almost throwing up and in the bathroom for the better part of my day... Yeah thats Elder Hill for ya...
We've met some really cool people people here. A wonderful lady who has had some hard struggles. A man who has a lot of questions and a young teen with a baptismal date. Love these people lots!
Spiritual thought: Honestly I've loved it our here and one thing I would crown as my favorite thing, is the personal scripture study. Now I've had scripture study at home, but it is nothing compared to the learning I have experienced out here. However much I learned at home by my self, got multiplied tenfold. I'm growing to love my savior more and more, and realize the importance of him in our every day lives. He is our rock, that if we build upon him the winds and whirlwinds of the adversary may have no power over you. Only when you build upon the foundation of christ and are rooted in him. He is the living water after all, so let him fill you.
I want to say thanks to all the people out there who read all these. I know they are long but i really love reflecting on my week, and this is a great way for me to do that. If anyone who is preparing to serve a mission and wants some tips or lessons that I've learned out here for the past 3 weeks just Email me and I can send you what I've learned out here.
Anyways love you guys so much!!!
